NZ Day 9 - Milford Tramp

Because we're nuts, and also because we were short on time, rather than having a rest after cycling 190km, we got up bright & early the next day & drove to Te Anau as we were starting the Milford Tramp. After a bus ride to Te Anau Downs, we took a ferry trip across the lake to Glade Wharf. Glimpsing the mist-shrouded mountains provided an ominous introduction to the walk.
Despite the awful awful sandflies, here I am all packed up & looking bright & chipper at the start of the track.
The first day of the tramp is a gentle 5km meander through the forest.
Very soon we arrived at the first hut - Clinton. I was really impressed with the facilities along the whole track - we had flushing toilets (with toilet paper!), electric lights, gas cookers & pretty comfortable dorm beds.
A short post today, reflecting the short walk. There's a whole lot more to come, trust me.
